Children’s shoes are important, especially when you’re buying shoes for very small children. We know that young children are still growing and developing, so the right fitting shoes are essential. However, that doesn’t mean that you need to spend a fortune on shoes, instead with a bit of savvy shoe shopping you can get something no matter what your budget.
The Right Fit
No two childrens feet are the same, so it is important that you get them measured and fitted properly. You should also keep an eye on the shoes that they are wearing to make sure that they haven’t out grown them, because a child’s feet can sometimes seem like they are growing at a rate of knots. When you do know what size they are, make sure you stick to this – shoes that are too small or too big will be uncomfortable to wear.
In order to make sure that you have the right size shoe you need to make sure that you go to someone that has experience in shoe measuring. Try not to just guess the size because they can easily result in errors. The best way to get an accurate measurement is to sit the child on your lap, get them to relax and let the measurer take a measurement using their shoe size measuring gauge. They can then give you advice on what size of shoe they should be wearing.
When you come to buying children’s shoes you’ll see that there are lots of different types for you to choose from. This is great news because it means that whatever you are looking for there will be something to suit you, your needs and of course your budget. You might not always be able to spend big money on shoes but it is well worth investing in a couple of nice pairs for them.
There are lots of shoes on the market that cater to children with flashing lights, cartoon character logos and more. These can be great for just every day shoes, especially when they are running around and you want a pair of shoes that it doesn’t matter get scuffed and marked. You’ll probably want to buy a pair of more sensible shoes for school but there are still lots to choose from so there is something for everyone.
Money Saving Methods
If you’re on a budget then you might be glad to know that there are ways to save money on shoes – which can often be welcomed, especially when your child’s feet are growing so quickly and you have to replace them quickly.
Methods you can use to save you money include:
- Looking out for flash sales especially on social networking websites
- Check websites such as Hot Deals UK for deals and special offers
- Use voucher codes
- Shop online in case the website cheaper than the store
- Take advantage of sales and bulk buy.
Types of Shoe To Buy
Just like you probably have a range of shoes in your wardrobe, your child should too! Ideally you’ll want a couple of pairs of shoes just for them to play in. That way you don’t have to worry if they get them messed up or marked. You’ll also want weather appropriate shoes – IE wellington boots for winter and some flip flips for summer. Some child winter boots are also great if you can get those.
Then on top of that you’ll also want to get some smart/school shoes for occasions where they might need to dress up. It is a good idea to save money by bulk buying but try not to bulk buy too far in advance, simply because your child’s feet will probably grow. Winter boots might be cheap in May but by the time October comes around, if your child has gone up a shoe size then you’ll have wasted money rather than saving it!
If you do find that your child has outgrown a pair of shoes before they have had a chance to wear them then make sure that you sell these to help recoup the cost – there are lots of Facebook selling pages or even sites like eBay that can help with this.
